Ottawa Historical Walking Tour - ByTown

Discover Ottawa's incredible and rich history with this 2 hour guided walking tour of ByTown and visit some of Ottawa's most important landmarks. Accompanied by a local historian, guests will step into Ottawa's past as they are brought through time to learn about the region's First Nations, to the foundation of ByTown, and the building of the nation's capital. 

During this tour, guests will be able to see and learn about the following landmarks:

• National Art Galery of Canada
• Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica
• Ottawa's Oldest House (Rochon House)
• ByWard Market
• Major Hill Park
• Rideau Canal
• Ottawa's Central Train Station / Senate
• Château Laurier
• Parliament Hill
• And other important landmarks.

This tour is offered every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. For this walking tour, there is no transportation included. Guests will meet their guide outside the National Art Galery of Canada in front of the Maman Spider Statue. Your guide will be dressed in Aventure Outaouais clothing and will have an official lanyard with accreditations. We ask that guests arrive at least 10 minutes early to avoid missing the tour. This tour is offered in English only, but can be offered in French for private tours (contact us for more details). The tour will end at Parliament Hill. After which, guests will be able to return by their own means either to the starting point or to their next adventure. 

The price includes your local guide and historian, approximitely 2 hours of walking tour of Ottawa, and lots of fun facts. Gratuities are not included, but appreciated in case of great service from your tour guide. This tour runs rain or shine, so we recommend to dress appropriately according to the weather. A detailed email will be sent to guests on the Monday before their tour with all the neccessary details (including parking options).
